Meet Macey! She is a female black Lab mix who is around 1 year old. She is a medium-sized dog at around 36 pounds. Macey is a trusting and friendly dog when she meets new people, and immediately fit right in to her foster home. She loves to run outside, play with tennis balls, and go on walks, but she is also happy to lay on a pillow inside and is very calm indoors.

In her current foster home, Macey lives with two dogs, one male and one female, as well as two cats, and does well with all of them, including sharing meal times. She does well in her crate and is house-trained and leash-trained. She is also around a one-year-old baby frequently and is very calm and gentle with her. She is a quick, treat-motivated learner who has already learned some basic commands in the week she has been in foster care. She has quite a bit of energy but is happy, calm, and content indoors.

Macey eats very quickly and could probably benefit from a slow-feeder bowl but has no special needs otherwise.

Because Macey can jump quite high, her adopter must have a fenced-in yard, preferably 6 ft or higher, or if no yard (e.g. apartment), plan to only take Macey out on a lead.

CARE's adoption fee is $250 for dogs/puppies and $100 for cats/kittens and an additional $150 neuter deposit will be required for any animals adopted prior to their spay/neuter surgery (and the deposit will be refunded when the approved adopter brings the animal to his/her CARE vet appointment in COLUMBUS, INDIANA once scheduled). All CARE animals arrive in their forever homes current on age appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, as well as microchipped and spay/neutered (or scheduled for the same). CARE is an all-volunteer and foster-based rescue organization. We do not have a shelter facility and do not have any employees monitoring inbound applications and emails. Applications are reviewed by each animal’s volunteer foster home. It may be several days before you hear from this animal’s foster home.
