Pets Alive to fix all cats for $40 until Labor Day Subsidized fee includes rabies vaccination Pets Alive Executive Director James McNamara said he hoped the price promotion would encourage more people to fix their cats and those that are free-roaming. “Shelters throughout south/central Laurie Ringquist, director of Bloomington Animal Care and Control agreed that the situation is dire. “We’ve got hundreds coming in every month and no where near that many forever homes to place them in,” said Ringquist. “The inflow of cats into the shelter is just way too high.” McNamara said there are lots of good medical and behavioral reasons to fix a pet, but that it was Pets Alive’s mission to keep homeless cats and dogs out of shelters. “There are too many unwanted litters being born. We’re out to minimize that.” McNamara said that as always Pets Alive would count on its donors to subsidize the actual full costs of the spay/neuter surgeries. “$40 doesn’t nearly cover all the expenses involved,” he said. “But we must get them fixed and, fortunately, there are generous people who agree.”
