664 dogs were in the system as stray/abandoned
1044 cats were in the system as stray/abandoned

(this number is after owner reclaims, county animals released back to county and death in shelter (natural causes, etc))

Of those 664 Dogs:


Adopted: 192 - 29% of abandoned dogs were Adopted

Euthanized: 456 - 69% of abandoned dogs were Euthanized


Of those 1087 Cats:

Adopted: 61 6% of abandoned cats were Adopted

Euthanized: 1026 94% of abandoned cats were Euthanized

622 dogs were in the system as stray/abandoned
497 cats were in the system as stray/abandoned


Of those 622 Dogs:


Adopted: 303 - 49% of abandoned dogs were Adopted

Euthanized: 157 - 25% of abandoned dogs were Euthanized


Of those
497 Cats:

Adopted: 134 - 27% of abandoned cats were Adopted

Euthanized: 306 - 62% of abandoned cats were Euthanized


2006 Entire Bartholomew County Totals:

1445 - Unwanted Dogs
1645 - Unwanted Cats

3,090 Unwanted Cats & Dogs

Only 953 of them found homes
(Only 31% of cats/dogs that enter a shelter get Adopted)
